Airbnb check-in instructions template for Greece (copy & paste)
Good Airbnb check-in instructions answer the questions guests would otherwise message you about at midnight. Below is a copy-and-paste template written for rentals in Greece, where guests often arrive by ferry or late flight, plus tips on when guests see it and how to keep it short.
When guests see your check-in instructions
On Airbnb, you add check-in instructions in your listing’s arrival guide. Guests see your check-in method (for example a lockbox or keypad) before booking, but the detailed instructions only become available 48 hours before check-in, or 24 hours before if you use a flexible cancellation policy. Checkout instructions are visible before booking. Sources: Airbnb Help Center and Resource Center.
On Booking.com and for direct bookings, send the same text yourself 1–2 days before arrival, through the booking platform’s messages or, if the guest agreed, on WhatsApp.

Replace every [bracketed] part, pick one option where alternatives are shown, and delete what doesn’t apply. Keep each section to two or three lines, since guests read this on a phone, often while travelling.

Greece-specific tips
- Ferries and flights run late. Ask for the ferry or flight time and say clearly what happens on a late arrival.
- Addresses can be hard to find. Island addresses can be vague, so always add a map pin and a photo of the entrance.
- Parking. In many villages cars can’t reach the door. Say where to park and how far the walk is.
- Water heater and toilet paper. Some Greek homes have a water heater that needs switching on, and plumbing that can’t take paper. Guests from abroad may not know either.
- Write in English. Most international guests can read it. Add a Greek version for Greek guests.
Checkout instructions
Keep checkout to what actually matters: time, where to leave keys, rubbish, and AC off. Long chore lists frustrate guests. Since Airbnb shows checkout instructions before booking, keep them friendly.
What guests still ask after reading it
Even with clear instructions, guests ask again: “What’s the Wi‑Fi?”, “Where do we park?”, “Which beach is closest?”. Many messages come at night. You can save these answers as quick replies in WhatsApp Business (Greek guide), or use a WhatsApp chatbot to answer routine questions automatically.
